Developed in 2018 by Designing Hope, the Biodiversity Game introduces children to current environmental issues in a playful way. Up till now uniquely developed in its prototype version for the Bercy school, the game is being developed in a small series, available in 2 versions, for schools and for families.

In the context of the event “Together for Biodiversity” initiated by HelloAsso and with the support of the Fondation Lemarchand, Designing Hope wishes to release the Biodiversity Game in 250 copies. Soon, the Biodiversity Game will not only extend its school version to other schools, but it will also be available for families to play at home.

The school version will contain:

  • a play tarp designed by Designing Hope, in a fabric holder
  • 22 “event” cards
  • 5 “living species” pieces
  • 25 medallions in the colors of each team
  • a dice

The home version will contain:

  • a folding board designed by Designing Hope
  • 22 “event” cards
  • 5 “living species” pieces
  • a dice
  • a metallic storage box

This game allows us to understand the importance of biodiversity by tackling notions such as global warming, deforestation, overfishing, threatened species and the preservation of ecosystems. Each piece matches a category of living species (Insects, Mammals, Fishes, Birds and Plants). The spaces on the board are linked to “+” or “-” cards which correspond to actions that have an impact on biodiversity. Whether the impact of the action is positive or negative, players move their pieces forwards or backwards on the board. You need to get the most cards with positive impacts in order to progress quickly on the board, while respecting biodiversity!
