In Roosboom, South Africa, Fisani, manager of the Halfway House, is fully committed to managing the vegetable garden in order to optimise its production.
She can count on the support of four women and two men from the township, who are involved in the daily maintenance of the crops. Together, they work to ensure that the garden provides as much fresh produce as possible for the centre’s canteen and that of the neighbouring school.
This positive dynamic has been made possible thanks to financial support from The Ivory Foundation and the Bel Foundation, which has enabled the cultivated area to be doubled, with a focus on sustainability, food self-sufficiency and community engagement.
