Located about a few blocks away from the daycare center of Designing Hope in Roosboom, the primary school of Buhlebezwe was a natural partner for the school uniforms project. Moreover, part of the 20 children benefiting from this project in this school, are also beneficiaries of the Half Way House.
10 pairs of shoes, 8 trousers, 9 shirts and 7 tunics were distributed to Kwanele, Siyamthanda, Casimu, Bonginkosi, Sphelele, Sbongakonke, Lindokuhle, Snelisiwe, Zesuliwe, Thobekani, Nusumuzi, Banele, Bayanda, Thokozain, Asande, Andiswa, Andiswa, Andiswa, Akhona and Nelisiwe, 11 boys and 9 girls aged 7 to 13.
The women of the Half Way House made the tunics for the beneficiary girls, while the rest (shirts, shoes and pants) was bought in the nearby town of Ladysmith, all taken care of by Designing Hope thanks to the revenues of the operation “Uniforms and Differences” on KissKissBankBank organized at the end of 2016.
A budget of 800 euros was allocated to each of the 3 schools in Roosboom, this budget being used freely to purchase the elements of the uniforms that each child was needed the most (shoes, pants and shirt or tunic), some disadvantaged children getting the full outfit.
