• GARDEN OF SKILLS
The Garden of Skills is an innovative project initiated by Designing Hope in Eswatini, which consists in associating on the same site a "Garden Forest", in the middle of which will be built a center of activities and training in the fields of agroecology, agroforestry, handicrafts, and management of micro-projects. This project was financed thanks to the "Porte-Bonheurs" operation initiated by the Bon Marché Rive Gauche in 2021 in Paris.

  • CULTIVATE HOPE!
At the initiative of the Bon Marché Rive Gauche, the Porte-Bonheurs event gave birth to an exceptional human adventure involving 120 women supported by Designing Hope in southern Africa. Since 2003, year of its inception in Paris, Designing Hope has been building cultural and social bridges between France and several countries in Africa, supporting projects in the following areas:


Nutrition and access to a balanced diet, promoting family and organic agriculture, and developing food self-sufficiency projects based on agro-ecology, permaculture and agro-forestry,

Promotion of North-South and South-South exchanges of skills and experience in the field of sustainable agriculture, particularly by involving younger people,

Support for HIV-positive women , particularly in southern Africa, with awareness campaigns, nutritional support, social integration and income-generating projects,

Support to children and youths who are orphans or in vulnerable situations , with support in their education, nutritional and social care.

Since its creation, Designing Hope has relied on international artists and creators to carry out its actions, mobilise, raise awareness and create a human and cultural link between the countries where it operates.

  • FASHION DESIGNING HOPE
Since 2003, Fashion Designing Hope has brought together 100 designers over the years among the biggest names in fashion around a generous approach: the creation of unique objects, made by people affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa. Find out more…


  • Uniforms & differences
Designing Hope has been running a school uniform distribution programme for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Southern Africa since 2011. Click here to learn more about this programme.

  • Pedagogical gardens
Designing Hope is actively engaged in food support programmes for vulnerable populations in Southern Africa. It also initiates educational gardens demonstrating sustainable agricultural techniques to a variety of publics. All these projects are networked within the www.transgardens.org platform.   • Artists 4 Life
Since 2006, artists have been involved with Designing Hope by dedicating a work of art to the association. This commitment has taken concrete form, either through the donation of a piece, the sale of which contributes to the financing of Designing Hope's actions, or through the creation of a work of art or a graphic creation in support of the campaign against discrimination: I Love You Positive or Negative.

  • la Traversine Garden, Paris
Designing Hope, winner of the first edition of the "Parisculteurs", was entrusted with the design of the roof terrace of the Bercy school in the 12th arrondissement in Paris in 2017. An opportunity to develop an above-ground educational garden, and to create "agri-cultural" links between young Parisians and the children of the 10 gardens managed by the association in Africa.   • PREVENTION CAMPAIGNS
Designing Hope relies on two projects, forum theatre in Burkina Faso and giant puppets in Swaziland, to develop awareness campaigns in rural areas.  Click here to discover these actions.

  • SUPPORTING DISADVANTAGED YOUth

Designing Hope acts in favour of young orphans in South Africa and Eswatini. In South Africa, it has built the Roosboom day care centre on the outskirts of Ladysmith in Kwazulu Natal, which welcomes 40 young people every day. In Eswatini, the NGO supports children of the underprivileged district of Macambeni, as well as 250 HIV-positive young people from the Teen Club at Piggs Peak Hospital.
